For Authors
Article types
The Journal will review article submissions from academics, judges, practitioners, and students. The Journal will give preference submissions to be between 10,000-30,000 words in length (including footnotes); however, if a work is above or below the word count, it will not be excluded from consideration.
Submission requirements
- Please submit your articles in either Microsoft word or PDF format. If accepted for publication, the Journal will request a Microsoft word version.
- The Journal expects citations to be in Bluebook format.
- Submit a seperate CV document, in either Microsoft word or PDF with your article submission.
- If there is any potential conflict of interest that may impact the article you have submitted, please disclouse that information in your submission.
Editorial and Peer Review Process
Each article submitted will be reviewed by at least one member of the Editorial Board before a decision is finalized by the Editor-in-Chief, but every effort will be made to ensure that your article is reviewed by 2-3 Editorial Board members. Additionally, the timeline for the review process should generally take 2-3 weeks, subject to change in the event of a particualrly high or low number of submissions.
TJLP is a student-edited journal at the University of Tennessee College of Law, and every article accepted for publication will go through multiple rounds of edit and review before the final publication is released. The Journal will make minimal substantive edits and the author will have the oppurtinity to see any and all suggested changes for their article before the final publication is released.
